Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas

Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas #1:
When it comes to Saint Patrick’s Day parties, you can never have enough shamrocks. Go into any local party supply store or even the grocery store and you’ll find shamrock plates, cups, food trays, shamrock glasses, shamrock lights, stickers, banners, etc. Also to go with all the shamrock gear get lots of balloons in different shades of green.
Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas #2:
Leprechauns are classic icons so are always a welcome decoration to any Saint Patrick’s Day party.

Do a Google search for “Leprechaun Scene Setter” and you won’t be disappointed with these happy go lucky wall decorations.

Alternatively, you can buy full size leprechaun cardboard cutouts. Also, near the leprechauns you can setup a table with a big pot of “gold” which consists of a mix of the classic St Patrick’s Day plastic coins.

Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas #3:
No St. Patrick’s Day party would be complete without the playing of traditional Irish songs. You should be able to find CDs online of all Irish music, but you could even just purchase some singles to make your own play list.

Once you have all the songs you want, then go online and print out all the lyrics and hand them out to guests. Everyone can sing along in their best Irish accents!

Another twist on this is to have lots of paper and pens available and tell everyone to write down their own limerick and then take turns reading them out loud.

Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas #4:
Chocolate coins wrapped in gold foil are a perfect party favor. A really fun idea is to have a treasure hunt for pots of gold!

Fill up multiple glass mugs with the gold coins and then hide them all around the party venue well before any of your guests show up. Then at some point mid-party, make a big announcement that you just found out a very greedy leprechaun has hidden his many pots of gold and its finders keepers!

Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas #5:
If there will be children at your party then you will definitely want to have some fun games to keep them entertained. Pot of Gold Coin Toss is a great game that kids of all ages and even adults will enjoy.

Get a big black pot and set it on the floor in an open area. Then a good distance away tape down a big green shamrock to the floor that you’ve cut out of green construction paper. In turn, each player stands on the paper shamrock and attempts to throw gold coins into the black pot.

If it’s kids playing this game then you can give away prizes every time someone makes a shot. Candy or stickers are usually a big hit. If it’s all adults playing Pot of Gold Coin toss than you can turn it into a drinking game. When someone makes a shot, everyone else has to drink!

Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas #6:
Having a movie playing in the background is a great idea and there are lots of good St. Patrick’s Day movies out there to choose from. Here’s a list of a few but I’m sure you can find more by doing a Google search.

Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas #7:
Cookies in the shape of four leaf clovers are a great St. Patty’s Day party snack. You can usually find these displayed when you first walk in to your local grocery store if it’s that time of the year.

These are really quick and easy but if you want something that tastes a little better, then find the Pillsbury ready bake cookies that already have a green shamrock in the middle. If you are really ambitious, then you can bake your own cookies from scratch.

Don’t forget to top them with green icing and/or green sugar sprinkles! You can even make them into fun shapes by purchasing a St. Patty’s Day set of cookie cutters that usually includes a rainbow, gold coins, leprechaun, and pot of gold.

Saint Patricks Day Party Ideas #8:
We all know that for adults, St. Patty’s Day is often all about drinking green beer and other alcoholic beverages. But, if you are going to have children at your party, then they need something fun to drink as well.

Get a big pitcher and fill it up with milk. Then add some drops of green food coloring and mix it up. Keep adding a few drops at a time and stirring until it gets to the shade of green you want. Trust me, kids will LOVE this!
